Every facilitator has dealt with the noisy participant, the shy participant, the "insert descriptive" particpant. When people try to blend personalities, physical builds, and emotional states some common situations arise. I've listed some of those scenarios below. The idea is that everyone here can contribute potential resolutions or methods for handling the scenarios.
Scenario 1: The Hyper Kid He/she is a fireball, a child possessed, a loose cannon and he's in your group. The rest of the group tolerates him reluctantly but his presence is beginning to wear them down. He's not a bad kid he just can't maintain control of his energy. How would you deal with him/her? Scenario 2: Chatty Chums Two of your participants constantly chat amongst themselves. Their chatting takes the place of participation and distracts their team mates. How can you resolve this issue? Suggest a resolution | View Suggestions
Scenario 3: The Quiet Participant You're facilitating a series of team building activities and one participant is quiet by nature or by circumstance. How can you empower this individual or coax them into finding their voice? Suggest a resolution | View Suggestions
Scenario 4: Heavyset Your program will take your particpants off the ground. You notice that there is a heavyset indivual not comfortable with the idea. If weight is an issue for a participant how can you keep them involved without injuring their pride? Suggest a resolution | View Suggestions
Scenario 5: Injured Participant A broken leg, arm, or other injury prevents full participation in some of your activities. What are other ways you've found to involve a participant? Suggest a resolution | View Suggestions
