What is it?Facili(tutor) is an organic learning resource for future and current facilitators. It serves as a starting place for new facilitators, a source of expanded study for veterans, and a hub where experiental personnel from all over share ideas.
Why build it?
As I migrated from the role of ropes course staff to facilitator, I looked to the internet for more information. At the time, the selection of sites geared toward this field was sparse. I was looking for information on games, debriefing methods, and anything related. It was the frustration of facing an information void online that planted the seed for Facili(tutor) today. I am a huge fan of pooling resources and sharing ideas. I was fortunate to get exposure to the team building community in San Diego. The guys/gals down there have made tremendous efforts to raise the bar for information and execution down there. It's beautiful because they share with ANYONE. It doesn't matter what company you're with or whether you ever work for/with them. They share unconditionally by arranging trainings, scheduling speakers, and above all communicating. It is that mindset that I am imbuing Facili(tutor) with.
So come on in, make yourself comfortable, and let us know who you are!
Who built this?
I guess that's me. =] My name is Jamie Bennett and I'm a denzien of the Southern California area. My induction into the world of teambuilding was courtesy of the Boy Scouts via their COPE program. I was a participant the first time and came back to staff it for the next three summers. After that, I did what all young people did and let my attention and direction wander for a while. One day I asked myself where had I really been happy (work related). I came to the conclusion it had been working in the COPE program helping kids achieve new heights in personal and group development. Following my epiphany I put fingers to keyboard and found some team building companies and have been trying to learn more since. My profession is graphic/web designer/programmer but I try to get in as much experiential related activities as I can. I've actually quit my day job and will be heading to Maryland to serve as the COPE Director at a Boy Scout camp there for the summer of 2007.
